Let this be known that I say none of this in hard word toward America itself, but just the general principle of things. I know this goes on elsewhere as well, but since I’m American I speak on behalf of that.
Just musing i suppose but isn’t it odd the strange appeal of where we got to be how we are politically, how we are politically? I say that because I feel like the more intelligent of the populace in America has the slightest gravitation towards, well anarchism. Are we really believing everything that we hear? And are the people dictating it, are they believing it as well? It’s just obscene how many lies we are fed so casually. And yet, to remark about them in disgust is common knowledge, so therefore it’s laid to rest. No one can do anything about it, and no one wants to sound dangerous, so we keep our mouths shut, and they (those who are in authority) do as well. Isn’t it a simple form of do unto others as you would have do unto you, only somehow told backwards? do unto you as you would unto others..somehow that changes it a bit. It would seem you’d treat yourself a bit harsher than normally when the phrase is switched around. I don’t know, I just feel like its hazy. The people that learn about history and civilization are taught the most mundane things and the most obscure detail only to repeat it to the next generation. Why would those minuscule details matter so much, and yet the greatest details are left a mystery.
Isn’t that backwards? Why are the only ones truly informed in a country usually the ones more angry at the administration, or wanting to change something, the only ones that are happy with everything the authority says are the ones uninformed or the ones that simply don’t care. I’m in the grey area, ..the..I care when it affects something I’m associated with, but otherwise I don’t give a rip. And i don’t say that to be apathetic, I say that as in, I can’t follow all of the stuff thats being given to me as clearly as I’d like. I’m fed so much detail I don’t know how to decipher what’s ridiculous from not.
Why does it take someone who’s educated in politics to understand a simple newspaper article? Is that, is that truly freedom? Or only freedom to those who actually seek it out, which now is left to the populace. No i do not suggest that we dumb down the newspaper to fit the people who cannot understand it, but there’s a large portion of our society thats been kept from us, and it bothers me. I think it bothers a lot of people subconsciously, but just like the next person you wonder, well. what can i do about it? I don’t have a say, I just live here. I’m not suggesting anything, I’m not even proposing something. But I thought i’d say something, as a duty. The media has created leeway not only for us to investigate more about the things we care about (trends, pop culture, art, music etc), but leeway for the uninformed to stay more uninformed. It used to be that a newspaper was delivered to an American household every morning at 5 am. Now they leave it up to you to watch CNN (if you’re Liberal) or Fox (If you’re Republican) of course, or you can go online where most articles are hidden behind a link and that would just take time…to click through all of them.
It is in a way our fault for being so lax in being politically active and just waiting until its absolutely crucial that we have to pay attention to the media to give it more than a minute of our time. It just feels like it used to be that the government wanted to involve the people in its affairs, getting together for tea or coffee meant talking about the latest news not the hills and we at a young age in prior times would be just as knowledgeable about the current times as our elders. I think because we have shown apathy, the authority’s response is to keep us uninformed..until they need us. Then they will shower our consciences with promises, legal terms and situations we can understand so we ourselves can sound intelligent to our friends, and claims that whatever their proposing will benefit our age group and relate to us because we are young, yet proud of our country. I’m not buying it. But yet I let it happen and really feel like its hopeless to try to change it, so maybe I am. I feel like most people in authority don’t agree with half of what their position upholds yet they’re too sold to secrecy to back out, or too afraid for their own sake what might happen if they stood up for what they actually believed. Anyway. its late. and….I was just wondering about this. so if you have a say. say it. without holding back.
